Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance for the creation of secondary suites for a low-income seniors or adults with disabilities, making it possible for them to live independently in their community, close to family or friends. The grant, called the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) for Secondary Suites, offers up to $24,000 in the form of a forgivable loan that does not have to be repaid provided that the owner adhere to the conditions of the program.
