Tax Bill Facts- Important information you will need to know and understand about property taxes as a home owner How are taxes adjusted between the buyer and seller?
Taxes for the full calendar year are to be paid by June 30. They are payable six months in arrears and six months in advance. If the sale closes before June 30th, the buyer will receive a credit for the portion of the year's taxes which are owed but unpaid by the seller of the property. This will reduce the amount of money the buyer will need to complete the purchase. However, the buyer will then be responsible for paying the taxes for the entire year by June 30th. If the sale closes after June 30th, the seller will get a credit for the portion of the year's taxes which are owed by the buyer (because the seller has prepaid them). This will therefore increase the amount of money the buyer will need to complete the purchase. However, the buyer will not have to pay any more for that year's property taxes. When are my taxes due?
Your taxes are due on June 30th. For your convenience, you can pay your taxes earlier by providing The City of Red Deer with a post-dated cheque or by joining The City's Tax Installment Plan (TIP).

The City of Red Deer and all Alberta municipalities could bill for taxes in January, the first month of the calendar year.
